Many people compare the temperature of artificial grass to real grass. However, when real grass isn’t a practical option for an area, it is not the point for comparison. When choosing to install a surface other than real grass such as paving, concrete, artificial grass, loose stone or mulch, each option will have it’s benefits and disadvantages. Many surfaces get hot in the sun.

On a very hot day and in direct sunlight, artificial grass can become uncomfortably warm to walk on. Any amount of shade, even mottled shade, will keep the grass at a comfortable temperature. If walking bare foot on artificial grass is required on a very hot day, a light sprinkle of water will cool the grass instantly.

Here at Tauro Turf only design grass suitable for the WA climate. Grass length, thatch quality and latex backing are all consider to keep our artificial grass cool. 35mm grass blade length and thick thatch mean that less of the backing is exposed. Exposed backing is what leads to artificial grass becoming warm on very hot days. Thicker turfs installed with a layer of infill sand won’t get as hot as a thinner synthetic turf. This is because the woven backing is better protected from the heat of the sun.

We have a fully installed outdoor display at our showroom which you are more than welcome to come see and feel on warmer days to put you worries at ease.
